What is VIN Number?

What is VIN Number?

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code that acts like a fingerprint for every car, truck, or motor vehicle. It reveals details such as the make, model, year, and features, and no two vehicles share the same code.

VINs are used by service centers, insurance companies, and law enforcement to track a car’s history, including maintenance, inspections, and repairs. A quick VIN check that can be done with CarJudge, can reveal key info for buyers and owners alike.

Where can you find the VIN?

Open the hood and check the front of the engine block. The VIN is usually printed on a metal plate or sticker that’s easy to spot once the hood is lifted.
